CREVE COEUR, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University baseball fell 8-2 in game one and 8-1 in game two on Friday afternoon at Missouri Baptist. With the losses, the Hornets fall to 6-26 on the season and 4-22 in American Midwest Conference play while the Spartans improve to 30-9 on the season and 25-5 in AMC play.
In game one, senior shortstop
Austin Martin (Roxana, Ill.) singled to lead off the game. After moving up to second on a groundout, Martin was in scoring position. Sophomore catcher
Dima Cornell-Neal (Trumbull, Ct.) would single up the middle scoring Martin. Cornell-Neal would steal second and would score on an error to make it 2-0 after a half inning.
The Spartans would score three runs in the first, one in the third, two in the fourth, one in the fifth and sixth to pick up an 8-2 win.Â

Za'Maree Tillman (Bakersfield, Calif.), senior third baseman
Malvin Gutierrez (Harlem, New York) and sophomore second baseman
Jordan Bradley (St. Louis, Mo.) all added a hit.
In game two, the Spartans held a 1-0 lead after one inning. Gutierrez would walk with one out in the Hornets second. A two-out double from freshman catcher
Jayden Matthews (Fayetteville, Ark.) would double to left center to score Gutierrez from first to tie the game at one.Â
The Spartans would score two in the second, two in the third, one in the fifth and two in the sixth to pick up the 8-1 win. Tillman, Matthews and Bradley all recorded a hit in the game.
The Hornets conclude their series with the Spartans on Saturday, April 12th at 12 and 2 pm at Spartan Field on the campus on Missouri Baptist.
