PARAGOULD, Ark. - Harris-Stowe State University baseball won 8-5 in game one and 10-5 in game two to sweep the doubleheader Wednesday afternoon at Crowley's Ridge. With the wins, the Hornets improve to 8-32 on the season and 6-28 in American Midwest Conference play while the Pioneers fall to 8-40 on the season and 6-28 in AMC play.
In game one, the Pioneers scored three runs in the bottom of the first. With two outs in the top of the second sophomore second baseman
Jordan Bradley (St. Louis, Mo.) would walk. Senior shortstop
Austin Martin (Roxana, Ill.) was hit by pitch. Senior outfielder
Za'Maree Tillman (Bakersfield, Calif.) would double to right to score both Bradley and Martin and cut the Pioneers lead to 3-2.

Skywalker Mann (Lee's Summit, Mo.) doubled to right to start the top of the third. Senior outfielder
Jeremy Kelly (Oranjestad, Aruba) singled to left moving Mann to third. Senior third baseman
Malvin Gutierrez (Harlem, New York) singled to left scoring Mann to tie the game. Bradley would get hit by pitch with the bases loaded to score Kelly to make it 4-3 Hornets. The Pioneers would tie it with a run in the fourth.
Kelly would single with one-out in the top of the fifth. Freshman middle infielder
Khalil Smith (Memphis, Tenn.) would get hit by pitch. Bradley would single to center to load the bases. Martin would triple to right center to clear the bases and make it 7-4 Hornets. In the sixth, Mann would single to right. Senior first baseman
Stephen Huggins (Gulf Breeze, Fla.) would walk. Kelly would single to left and an error would allow Mann to score to make it 8-4 Hornets. The Pioneers would score one in the sixth.
Kelly would lead the way with three hits while Martin, Gutierrez, and Mann had two hits each and Tillman and Bradley added one hit. Martin would have three runs batted in while Tillman had two and Gutierrez and Bradley had one. Junior right handed pitcher
Dakota Gaines (Jay, Okla.) would pick up the complete game win.
In game two, Martin started the game with a single. Tillman was hit by pitch. Kelly walked to load the bases with two outs. Huggins doubled to right center to clear the bases and make it 3-0 Hornets in the first. Gutierrez singled to right. Bradley singled to score Huggins to make it 4-0 Hornets after a half inning.
In the second, Tillman singled with one out. Sophomore catcher
Dima Cornell-Neal (Trumbull, Ct.) singled, sophomore second baseman Amilio Rentaria (Houston, Texas) would run for Cornell-Neal. Kelly singled to left to load the bases. Huggins would single home Tillman and Rentaria to make it 6-0 Hornets, Gutierrez singled to left to score Kelly to make it 7-0. The Pioneers would score two in the bottom of the second.
Martin would reach on a fielders choice in the third. Tillman singled to center. Cornell-Neal would single to score Martin to make it 8-2. Mann doubled to center to score Tillman to make it 9-2. The Pioneers scored three in the fifth to cut the Hornets lead to 9-5.
In the sixth, Kelly doubled to start the inning. A one out double by Gutierrez would score Kelly to double the Hornets lead to 10-5.
Tillman and Gutierrez would record three hits each while Cornell-Neal, Kelly, Huggins and Bradley had two each and Martin and Mann added one hit. Huggins recorded five RBI's while Gutierrez added two and Cornell-Neal, Mann and Bradley had one. Senior right handed pitcher
Joseph Mann (Bacolod, Phillipines) would toss a complete game to pick up the win.
The Hornets return to action on Thursday, April 24th at 10 am and 12 pm against Crowley's Ridge in Paragould, Ark.
