Hornets Soccer Falls 3-1 at Webster

FENTON, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University men's soccer fell 3-1 on Wednesday night at Webster University at Fenton City Soccer Park. With the loss, the Hornets fall to 2-4-2 on the season while the Gorloks improve to 2-3 on the season.

Senior goalkeeper Matheus Pereira da Silva (Santo Andre, SP, Brazil/Columbia College) would keep the game tied at zero with saves in the 13th minute and 18th minute. Senior forward Mario De La Fuente (Madrid, Spain/Mid America Christian University) would be turned away by the Gorloks keeper in the 35th minute. A save by Pereira da Silva in the 43rd minute would keep the game tied at zero going into halftime.

The Gorloks would take a 1-0 lead in the 48th minute. A save by Pereira da Silva would lead to a goal off the rebound for the Gorloks in the 65th minute to make it 2-0 in favor of the Gorloks. The Gorloks would push their lead to 3-0 with a goal in the 69th minute. A save by Pereira da Silva would keep it 3-0 in the 73rd minute. Junior forward Adefolarin Adigun (Colchester, England/Moulsham High School) would take the pass from junior midfielder Antonio Bilancieri (Roccadaspide, Italy/Ranger College) and cut the deficit to 3-1 with his goal in the 75th minute. 

De La Fuente would lead with four shots and Adigun would lead with two shots on goal. Adigun's goal was his first of the season. Pereira da Silva would make five saves in goal.

The Hornets held a 17-11 advantage in shots. The Gorloks held an 8-3 advantage in shots on goal and 3-1 advantage in corner kicks.

The Hornets return to action on Saturday, September 20th at 3:30 pm against Oakland City at Goebel Soccer Complex in Evansville, Ind.
