ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University women's volleyball fell in four sets (21-25, 25-21, 16-25, 20-25) on Friday night against Cottey College at Emerson Performance Center. With the loss, the Lady Hornets fall to 4-7 on the season and 2-1 in American Midwest Conference play while the Comets improve to 5-8 on the season and 1-0 in AMC play.

Jalia Sanders, a kill by McReynolds and a kill from Sanders had the Lady Hornets up 20-14. The Comets would close set one on an 11-1 run.
In set two, freshman outside hitter
Renise Powell put the Lady Hornets up 1-0. A service ace from freshman defensive specialist
Mya Hendrix made it 5-3 Lady Hornets. A solo block by Files made it 7-4. A 5-0 Comets run gave them a 9-7 lead. A 6-1 run by the Lady Hornets a 13-11 lead. A kill by McReynolds made it 17-14 Lady Hornets. A kill by Williams and an ace by Foster made it 23-19. Powell would record back-to-back kills to give the Lady Hornets a 25-21 set two win and tie the match at one set apiece.
The Comets raced out to a 7-2 lead. A kill by sophomore outside hitter
Serenity Baker (Desoto, Texas/Desoto) cut the deficit to 13-5. A kill by Powell, a block by Williams and back-to-back bad sets by the Comets cut the deficit to 16-9. A kill and a solo block by sophomore middle hitter
Jada Anderson (Jefferson City, Mo./Capital City) cut the deficit to 20-14. The Comets closed set three on a 5-2 run to take set three.

Jayla Payne (San Antonio, Texas/Wagner) and an attack error by the Comets gave the Lady Hornets a 10-6 lead. An 11-2 run by the Comets gave them a 17-12 lead. A kill by Edison cut the deficit to 18-16. A kill by Watson cut the deficit to 21-19. The Comets closed out the set and match with a 4-1 run.Â
Edison led the way with nine kills, while junior setter
Isa Smith (Little Rock, Ark./Joe T. Robinson) recorded 15 assists, Foster led the way with 24 digs while McReynolds and Payla added 10 digs each, Williams recorded one solo block and two block assists, Hendrix and Foster recorded two service aces each.
The Lady Hornets return to action on Saturday, September 20th at 10 am against Central Baptist and 2 pm against Mission at Emerson Performance Center.
