ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University men's basketball fell 95-82 on Saturday afternoon against Columbia College at Emerson Performance Center. With the loss, the Hornets fall to 3-12 on the season and 0-4 in American Midwest Conference play while the Cougars improve to 15-2 on the season and 4-0 in AMC play.

Junior center Dimitrije Stojanovic (Nis, Serbia/Bethel University) gave the Hornets an early 3-0 lead after knocking down a three. A layup by freshman forward Nashawn Davis (St. Louis, Mo./Columbia College) cut the deficit to 6-5. Two free throws by Davis and a layup by junior guard Shamar Carter (Inglewood, Calif./Moberly CC) gave the Hornets a 9-6 lead. A layup by Stojanovic cut the deficit to 15-13. A layup by sophomore guard Umar Lawson (Sumter, S.C./Voorhees University) cut the deficit to 17-15. A layup by senior forward Jalen Watson (East St. Louis, Ill./St. Louis Community College) and a layup by sophomore guard Antonio Trotter (Nashville, Tenn./Williams Baptist University) cut the deficit to 22-19. A jumper and layup by Carter cut the Cougars lead to 26-23.Â

A jumper and a layup by senior center Greg Wilson (Kansas City, Kan./Voorhees University) cut the deficit to 31-27 with just under seven minutes to play in the first half. A layup by Stojanovic and a layup by Lawson cut the Cougars lead to 33-31. Two free throws by Watson and a jumper by Carter tied the game at 35. A jumper by Lawson cut the deficit to 38-37. Two free throws by junior guard Adolphus Cast (Detroit, Mich./Schoolcraft College) cut the deficit to 44-43 going into halftime.

A layup by Stojanovic cut the deficit to 46-45 early in the second half. A 9-0 run by the Cougars extended their lead to 55-45. A three by Davis cut the deficit to 55-48. A layup and free throw by Cast cut the deficit to 57-51. A layup by Davis cut the deficit to 57-53. A dunk by Lawson cut the Cougars lead to 59-57 with just under 14 minutes to play. A jumper from Lawson cut the deficit to 63-59. A three by Carter cut the Cougars lead to 67-62. A layup from Davis cut the deficit to 72-64. Davis and Lawson recorded 15 points apiece while Carter added 13. Carter recorded five rebounds. Lawson and Cast had three assists apiece. Davis recorded five steals.
