ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University women's basketball fell 81-79 on Thursday night at the University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy. With the loss, the Lady Hornets fall to 3-11 on the season and 2-6 in American Midwest Conference play while the Eutectics improve to 9-9 on the season and 6-2 in AMC play.

A layup from sophomore guard Alivia Montgomery (Little Rock, Ark./Little Rock Central) tied the game at two early in the first quarter. A jumper from senior Jayla Dixon tied the score at four. A three from senior guard Cailynn Dilosa (Gary, Ind./Merriville) gave the Lady Hornets their first lead at 7-4. A layup from Dilosa gave the Lady Hornets a 9-8 lead. A layup by Dilosa tied the game at 11. A layup from sophomore forward Tyara Davis (Kansas City, Kan./Blue Valley North) put the Lady Hornets up 13-11. A layup from Montgomery made it 15-13 Lady Hornets with 3:25 to play in the first quarter. The Eutectics closed the quarter with an 8-4 run to hold a 21-19 lead after one quarter of play.

A layup from Montgomery cut the deficit to 24-21 early in the second quarter. A layup and a three by Dilosa cut the deficit to 27-26. A three from Montgomery cut the deficit to 30-29 with 3:45 to play in the first half. A layup from Davis, a four point play from Dilosa gave the Lady Hornets a 35-30 lead. A layup from junior forward Janiya Jones (Jackson, Tenn.) gave the Lady Hornets a 37-32 lead. The Eutectics used a 10-0 run to close the half with a 42-37 lead.

The Lady Hornets started the second half with a 15-0 run. During the run, Dilosa scored nine points, Jones, Montgomery and senior forward J'Lessa Jordan (St. Louis, Mo./Hazelwood Central) added two points during the run.With the run, the Lady Hornets turned a 42-37 deficit into a 52-42 lead. Two free throws from Dilosa and a layup from Montgomery extended the lead to 56-45. A layup from Jones and a three from Dilosa gave the Lady Hornets a 61-52 lead with 1:09 left in the third quarter. A 5-2 Eutectics run cut the Lady Hornets lead to 63-57 going into the fourth quarter.

A layup from Jones extended the Lady Hornets lead to 65-57 early in the fourth quarter. An old fashioned three point play from Montgomery extended the Lady Hornets lead to 68-61 with 8:08 left in the game. A layup from Montgomery made it 70-65. A layup, a jumper and a free throw from Montgomery gave the Lady Hornets a 75-70 lead with 3:26 to play. A jumper from Montgomery pushed the lead to 77-73. The Eutectics used an 8-2 run to close the game to pick up the 81-79 win.

Dilosa led the way with 32 points while Montgomery added 31 points. Dilosa and Montgomery tied their career-highs. Jones recorded seven rebounds for the Lady Hornets. Montgomery dished out six assists. Jordan recorded three blocks in the game. Dilosa had a career-high seven steals and Montgomery had a career-high five steals.

The Lady Hornets went 32-79 (40.5%) from the field, 6-20 (30.0%) from three and 9-13 (69.2%) at the free throw line.Â
