ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University women's basketball fell 75-49 on Tuesday evening at Emerson Performance Center against Stephens College. With the loss, the Lady Hornets fall to 2-7 on the season and 1-2 in American Midwest Conference play while the Stars improve to 3-10 on the season and 2-1 in AMC play.

Alivia Montgomery (Little Rock, Ark./Little Rock Central) gave the Lady Hornets a 3-0 lead early in the game. A three from Montgomery extended the lead to 6-2. A layup by senior forward
J'Lessa Jordan (St. Louis, Mo./Hazelwood Central) extended the lead to 8-2. A layup by senior guard
Cailynn Dilosa (Gary, Ind./Merriville) pushed the lead to 10-5. A layup by sophomore forward
Tyara Davis (Kansas City, Kan./Blue Valley North) pushed the lead to 12-7 before the Lady Hornets took a 12-10 lead into the second quarter.

Marchi Hunter (Menifee, Calif./Vista del Lago) gave the Lady Hornets a 16-12 lead. Two free throws from senior
Jayla Dixon gave the Lady Hornets an 18-17 lead. An 8-0 run by the Stars gave them a 25-18 lead. Two free throws by Montgomery cut the deficit to 25-20 late in the second quarter. The Stars would hold a 28-21 lead at halftime.
A layup by Davis cut the deficit to 30-23 early in the third quarter. Two free throws from junior
Janiya Jones cut the deficit to 35-25 with just under seven minutes to play in the third quarter. An 11-2 run by the Stars extended their lead to 46-27. A jumper from sophomore guard
Janiya Brown (St. Louis, Mo./Jennings) and two free throws from Dixon cut the deficit to 46-31. The Stars would close the quarter on a 7-0 run to hold a 53-31 lead after three quarters.
A layup by Brown cut the deficit to 53-33 early in the fourth quarter. A three from Dilosa cut the deficit to 61-38. A jumper from Montgomery cut the deficit to 64-40. A jumper from Jordan cut the Stars lead to 66-42. A three by Montgomery cut the deficit to 72-47. A layup by Davis cut the deficit to 75-49.
Montgomery led the way with 13 points while Davis added 12. Davis led the way with eight rebounds including six on the offensive end. Montgomery recorded five assists. Jordan recorded three steals. Hunter and Davis each had a block.
The Lady Hornets went 17-49 (34.7%) from the field, 3-16 (18.8%) from three and 12-18 (66.7%) from the free throw line.
The Lady Hornets return to action on Thursday, January 8th at Mission University in Springfield, Mo. with tip off set for 5:30 pm.
