JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University baseball fell 12-4 in game one and 8-1 in game two at Lincoln on Friday afternoon. With the losses, the Hornets fall to 0-4 on the season while the Blue Tigers start the season 2-0.

Game 1:
The Hornets had a chance to strike first in the top of the first. A single from sophomore center fielder Adrian Martinez (Davie, Fla.) would start the rally. Back-to-back two out walks by senior right fielder Tashaun Coleman (Indianapolis, Ind.) and junior first baseman Brayden Hatley (St. Louis, Mo.) gave the Hornets an opportunity, but the Hornets were unable to score. The Blue Tigers would score one run in the bottom of the first.

The Blue Tigers would hold a 1-0 lead until the Hornets would strike in the fourth. A leadoff walk by Coleman and a single from Hatley had the Hornets in business. Coleman would steal third. The Hornets tied the game on a double steal with Hatley stealing second and Coleman scoring the tying run on a steal of home. Freshman catcher Jacob Frankera gave the Hornets a 2-1 lead with a double down the left field line. Junior shortstop Felix Daclan (Modesto, Calif.) would walk. Frankera would move to third and Daclan moved to second on a throwing error by the pitcher. After the Hornets loaded the bases, senior second baseman Michael Khatkar (Vancouver, Canada) would hit a sacrifice fly to score Frankera and a throwing error by the center fielder allowed Daclan to score, giving the Hornets a 4-1 lead.

The Blue Tigers would score two runs in the bottom of the fifth and nine in the sixth to take a 12-4 lead.

Junior left fielder Alexander Fernandez (Caracas, Venezuela) recorded two hits in the game. Frankera and Khatkar both recorded one run batted in. Coleman and Fernandez both recorded two stolen bases.

Game 2:
Fernandez led off game two with a single. Daclan singled as Fernandez advanced to third. Coleman hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Fernandez and give the Hornets a 1-0 lead just three batters in. The Blue Tigers took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the first.

In the third, a one out single from Fernandez and Daclan had the Hornets threatening to tie the game, but would be unable to push across the tying run.Â

The Blue Tigers scored one in the third and fourth, three in the fifth and one in the sixth as they scored eight unanswered runs.

Fernandez and Daclan recorded three hits a piece. Coleman had the lone run batted in.

The Hornets return to action on Tuesday, March 3rd at Stars Park for their home opener against William Penn at 12 pm and 2:30 pm.
