ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University men's basketball fell 105-86 on Thursday night against Mission at Emerson Performance Center. With the loss, the Hornets fall to 4-17 on the season and 1-9 in American Midwest Conference play while the Patriots improve to 9-14 on the season and 5-5 in AMC play.

A steal by freshman forward Nashawn Davis (St. Louis, Mo./Columbia College) turned into a fastbreak dunk for Davis to give the Hornets a 2-0 lead. A layup from sophomore guard Umar Lawson (Sumter, S.C./Voorhees University) made it 4-2 Hornets. A layup from Lawson would make it 6-3. A three from Davis followed by a layup extended the Hornets lead to 11-5. A jumper from sophomore guard Antonio Trotter (Nashville, Tenn./Williams Baptist University) extended the lead to 13-9. Back-to-back layups from Davis extended the Hornets lead to 17-11. A 9-0 run by the Patriots gave them a 20-17 lead with 12:07 left in the first half. A jumper from senior forward Jalen Watson (East St. Louis, Ill./St. Louis Community College) cut the deficit to 20-19. A jumper from Watson cut the deficit to 24-21. A jumper from Trotter cut the deficit to four at 27-23. Two free throws from freshman guard Christian Dake (St. Louis, Mo./Parkway North) cut the Patriots lead to 27-25. An 8-0 run by the Patriots was halted by a three by Trotter to cut the Patriots lead to 35-28 with 7:29 to play in the first half.

A layup from Davis cut the deficit to 41-32 late in the half. A three from Dake and a three from Trotter cut the Patriots lead to 45-38. The Patriots closed the first half on an 11-2 run to take a 56-40 lead into halftime.

Four free throws and a layup from Davis cut the Patriots lead to 56-46 just over a minute into the second half. A layup from Lawson cut the deficit to 58-48. A dunk from Lawson cut the deficit to 61-50. A layup from Lawson cut the Patriots lead to 65-52. An old-fashioned three point play from sophomore guard Jason Freeman (Atlanta, Ga./William Woods University) and a three from junior guard Adolphus Cast (Detroit, Mich./Schoolcraft College) cut the deficit to 71-58. Two free throws from Watson, a layup from Lawson, a free throw from Davis and a layup from Freeman cut the deficit to 76-66 with 9:59 to play. A 9-0 Patriots run extended their lead to 85-66. A layup from Davis cut into the Patriots lead to make it 85-68. Two free throws from Davis, a layup from Lawson and a layup from Dake cut the deficit to 92-74. A three from Dake cut the Patriots lead to 94-77. A three point play from Lawson and a jumper from Trotter cut the deficit to 101-86 before the Patriots scored the final four points to pick up the 105-86 win.

Davis led the way with 24 points while Lawson added 23, Trotter added 12 and Dake added 10. Trotter led the way with a career-high seven rebounds. Davis recorded four assists. Trotter recorded a career-high six steals.Â

Trotter's 12 points, Dake's 10 points and Freeman's five points were all career-highs. Dake added a career-high with four rebounds while Freeman added a career-high four rebounds.

The Hornets went 32-72 (44.4%) from the field, 6-18 (33.3%) from three and 16-25 (64.0%) from the free throw line.Â
