ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University women's basketball picked up a 70-58 win on Thursday night against Mission at Emerson Performance Center. With the win, the Lady Hornets improve to 5-13 on the season and 4-8 in American Midwest Conference play while the Patriots fall to 10-13 on the season and 6-7 in AMC play.

A layup and a three from sophomore guard Alivia Montgomery (Little Rock, Ark./Little Rock Central) gave the Lady Hornets a 5-1 lead just a minute into the game. An 11-0 run by the Patriots gave them a 12-5 lead. Two free throws from junior forward Janiya Jones (Jackson, Tenn.) and a layup by senior forward J'Lessa Jordan (St. Louis, Mo./Hazelwood Central) cut the Patriots lead to 12-9. A jumper from Montgomery and a layup from sophomore forward Tyara Davis (Kansas City, Kan./Blue Valley North) cut the deficit to 16-15. An old-fashioned three point play from Davis gave the Lady Hornets an 18-17 lead going into the second quarter.

A layup from senior guard Cailynn Dilosa (Gary, Ind./Merriville) extended the lead to 20-19. A layup and a jumper from Davis and a three from Montgomery extended the Lady Hornets lead to 27-19 with 4:05 to play in the first half. A layup from Davis extended the lead to 29-21. The Patriots closed the half with a 4-0 run to cut the Lady Hornets lead to 29-25 going into the half.

A three from Montgomery and a jumper from Jones extended the Lady Hornets lead to 34-28. A layup from Davis pushed the lead to 37-33 with 4:03 to play in the third quarter. A jumper from Davis and a layup from Montgomery extended the lead to 43-38. The Patriots would score the final five points in the third quarter to tie the game at 43 going into the final 10 minutes of play.

A layup from Jones cut the deficit to 46-45 early in the fourth quarter. A layup from Montgomery and a layup from Jones tied the game at 49. A jumper from Jordan tied the game at 51. A jumper from Montgomery, a jumper from Jones, a layup from Dilosa, a three from Jordan and a layup from Montgomery was a part of the Lady Hornets 11-0 run that broke the 51 all tie to a 62-51 lead with under four minutes to play. A layup from Davis extended the lead to 64-54. Four made free throws from Montgomery closed the scoring and gave the Lady Hornets a 70-58 win.

 Montgomery led the way with a game-high 25 points while Davis added a career-high 19 points off the bench and Jones added 12. Jones would record a season-high 12 rebounds to record her first double-double of the season. Montgomery, Jones and Jordan all recorded three assists, which was a season-high for Jones. Jordan added two blocks. Dilosa and Jordan both recorded four steals which tied Jordan's season-high.

The Lady Hornets went 27-63 (42.9%) from the field, 4-15 (26.7%) from three and 12-20 (60.0%) at the free throw line.Â
