HANNIBAL, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University baseball fell 11-10 in game one and 7-1 in game two on Monday afternoon at Hannibal-LaGrange. With the losses, the Hornets fall to 2-16 on the season and 1-11 in American Midwest Conference play while the Trojans improve to 8-19 on the season and 3-9 in AMC play.Â

Game 1:
Junior left fielder Alex Fernandez (Caracas, Venezuela) reached second on a dropped third strike and throwing error by the catcher. Junior shortstop Felix Daclan (Modesto, Calif.) singled to score Fernandez to make it 1-0 Hornets. Junior outfielder Hayden Waters was hit by a pitch. Daclan and Waters advanced on a wild pitch. Freshman catcher Jacob Frankera singled home Daclan and Waters to make it 3-0 Hornets. The Trojans would tie the game with three in the bottom of the first.

Fernandez led off the second with a hit by pitch before stealing second. Junior first baseman Brayden Hatley (St. Louis, Mo.) singled to score Fernandez. Waters and Frankera would follow with singles to load the bases. Hatley would score on a wild pitch to make it 5-3 Hornets. Senior first baseman Logan Schwerdt (Saint Peter's, Mo.) hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Waters. Senior right fielder Tashaun Coleman (Indianapolis, Ind.) doubled to right center to score freshman outfielder Rich Patton, who was running for Frankera, to make it 7-3 Hornets.

The Trojans scored two runs in the second and third innings and one run in the fourth to take an 8-7 lead.

Coleman and junior first baseman Carter Henderson (San Diego, Calif.) walked with one-out. Senior second baseman Michael Khatkar (Vancouver, Canada) reached on an error. Coleman scored on a passed ball. Fernandez walked to load the bases. Daclan recorded a sacrifice fly to center to score Henderson to make it 9-8 Hornets. The Trojans scored one in the fifth and sixth to take a 10-9 lead to the seventh.

Fernandez walked to start the seventh and advance to second on a passed ball and to third on a fly out. Hatley reached on a fielder's choice to score Fernandez to tie the game at 10. The Trojans would score one run in the seventh to pick up the 11-10 lead.

Frankera led the way with two hits while Daclan, Hatley, Waters and Coleman added one hit apiece. Daclan, Hatley and Frankera recorded two runs batted in while Schwerdt and Coleman added one run batted in.

Game 2:
The Trojans would score two runs in the second and three in the third.Â

Waters tripled with one out in the Hornets half of the fourth. Coleman would double to score Waters to cut the deficit to 5-1. The Trojans would score two more runs in the seventh to extend their lead.
Schwerdt led the way with two hits while Waters and Coleman had one. Coleman had the lone run batted in for the Hornets.

The Hornets return to action on Friday, April 3rd at 12 pm with game two to follow against Williams Baptist in AMC play at Stars Park.
