Lady Hornets Softball Falls Twice in Hard Fought Games Against Central Baptist


ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University softball fell 3-0 in game one and 7-6 in game two against Central Baptist on Tuesday afternoon at Stars Park. With the losses, the Lady Hornets fall to 2-20 on the season and 1-13 in American Midwest Conference play while the Mustangs improve to 20-14 on the season and 5-1 in AMC play.

 

Game 1:

The Mustangs scored one run in the first, third and fourth innings.

 

Senior shortstop Juanesha Washington (St. Louis, Mo./Carnahan High School), junior utility player A'Kiayah Scales (St. Louis, Mo./Mineral Area College), junior outfielder Karmen Daniels (St. Louis, Mo./Fontbonne University) and freshman outfielder Mora Orloff (CDMX, Mexico) all recorded a hit.

 

Game 2:

Junior second baseman Rakiara Bogan (Cape Girardeau, Mo./Mineral Area College) singled to start the bottom of the first. Washington reached on an infield single. With two outs, Daniels singled to right center to score Bogan and Washington to make it 2-0 Lady Hornets. 

 

The Mustangs scored three in the second, one in the third and three more in the fifth.

 

Scales led off the bottom of the sixth with a single. Senior outfielder Noemi Tudon (Houston, Texas/Waldorf University) singled. Daniels reached on an error to load the bases. Freshman infielder Crystal McFerren (St. Louis, Mo./Fort Zumwalt North High School) singled to left to score Scales to cut the deficit to 7-3. Sophomore catcher Brianna Huff (Columbus, Ohio/Private Tree of Life Christian College Preparatory High School) grounded out to score Tudon. Junior outfielder Zyon Williams (St. Louis, Mo./Lincoln University) singled to right center to score Daniels and McFerren to cut the deficit to 7-6.

 

Scales led the way with two hits while Bogan, Washington, Tudon, Daniels, McFerren and Williams all had one hit. Williams and Daniels both recorded two runs batted in while Huff and McFerren had one run batted in.

 

The Lady Hornets return to action on Friday, April 10th at Williams Baptist in Walnut Ridge, Ark.
