FULTON, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University men's soccer picked up a 7-1 win on Saturday afternoon at William Woods University. With the win, the Hornets start the season 1-0 while the Owls fall to 0-1 on the season.

Junior forward Samuel Guerrero (Santiago, Chile/South Kent School) was denied a goal in the third minute by the Owls. Midfielder Vitor Biffi (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Lincoln University of Missouri) had his shot turned away in the 22nd minute. Junior forward Jovan Momic (Belgrade, Serbia/Kansas Wesleyan University) had his header denied in the 23rd minute. Biffi would find the back of the net to give the Hornets a 1-0 lead in the 27th minute. Senior defender Leonardo El Ayache (Naples, Italy/University of Northwestern Ohio) had a goal denied in the 37th minute. The Hornets would take a 1-0 lead into halftime.

Junior midfielder Dusan Drca (Belgrade, Serbia/Hill Community College) would find the back of the net in the 52nd minute off of the assist from defender Felipe Samary (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil/Dodge City CC) to make it 2-0. Midfielder Mihajlo Katanic (Novi Sad, Serbia/Oklahoma Wesleyan University) made it 3-0 Hornets in the 55th minute. El Ayache would extend the lead to 4-0 in the 59th minute.Â

The Owls would get on the board in the 70th minute to cut the deficit to 4-1. Senior forward Adefolarin Adigun (Colchester, England/Moulsham High School) would score the fifth Hornets goal off the assist from Guerrero in the 78th minute. Midfielder Beltran Carretero (Olmedo, Spain/Trinity Christian College) would give the Hornets a 6-1 in the 84th minute. Biffi would score his second goal of the game in the 89th minute to make it 7-1 Hornets.

The Hornets held a 16-4 advantage in shots and 11-1 advantage in shots on goal. The Owls had a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.
