FAYETTE, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University men's soccer fell 4-1 at Central Methodist University on Tuesday night. With the loss, the Hornets are 2-1-1 on the season while the Eagles are 1-0-1 on the season.
Junior goalkeeper Leonardo Stralla (Genova, Italy/Iowa Central CC) would keep the Eagles off the board with a save in the 11th minute. Senior defender Leonardo El Ayache (Naples, Italy/University of Northwestern Ohio) would be denied by the Eagles keeper on a penalty kick and would follow it up with a goal on the rebound to give the Hornets a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute. Junior forward Samuel Guerrero (Santiago, Chile/South Kent School) was denied a goal in the 25th minute that would have given the Hornets a 2-0 lead. Freshman midfielder Victor Samuel (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil/Colegio e Curso AZ) was turned away in the 39th minute. The Eagles would tie the game in the 44th minute as the game would be tied 1-1 at halftime.
The Eagles would score in the 56th and 58th minutes to take a 3-1 lead. Junior forward Jovan Momic (Belgrade, Serbia/Kansas Wesleyan University) had his header turned away in the 68th minute. The Eagles would take a 4-1 lead in the 78th minute.
Stralla made four saves in goal.
The Eagles held a 13-10 advantage in shots, 8-5 in shots on goal and 4-1 in corner kicks.
The Hornets return to action on Tuesday, September 8th at 3:30 pm against Brescia University at Hornets Field on the campus of Harris-Stowe.
