ELSAH, Ill. - Harris-Stowe State University men's soccer picked up a 3-1 at Principia College. With the win, the Hornets are 3-2-1 on the season while the Panthers are 2-1 on the season.
Senior defender Leonardo El Ayache (Naples, Italy/University of Northwestern Ohio) nearly gave the Hornets a lead in the fifth minute, but his shot would be saved. Freshman defender Miller Arm (Hertfordshire, England/Borehamwood Pase Academy) had his shot turned away in the eighth minute. Junior midfielder Dusan Drca (Belgrade, Serbia/Hill Community College) was denied a goal in the 19th minute by the Panthers keeper.
Junior forward Facundo Nunez (Montevideo, Uruguay/Garden City CC) would find the back of the net in the 23rd minute. Senior goalkeeper Louis Noisiez (Vred, France/Institut d'Anchin) kept the Panther off the board with a save in the 24th minute. Nunez would record a brace with his second goal in the 37th minute to make it 2-0. The Hornets would hold a 2-0 lead at the half.
Junior defender Felipe Samary (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil/Dodge City CC) had a goal denied by the keeper of the Panthers in the 53rd minute. The Panthers cut the lead in half with a goal in the 59th minute. Sophomore midfielder Benjamin Martinez (Mendoza, Argentina/Garden City CC) gave the Hornets a two goal lead once again in the 61st minute with Luciano Liberona (Santiago, Chile/Tabor College) picking up the assist. Liberona was denied a goal in the 62nd minute. Noisiez kept the two goal lead with a save in the 84th minute.
The Hornets held a 24-8 advantage in shots and 10-3 in shots on goal. The Panthers held a 9-8 advantage in corner kicks. Noisiez made two saves.
The Hornets return to action on Wednesday, September 16th at 5:30 pm eastern time at Indiana University Columbus in Columbus, Indiana.
