ATLANTA – On day two of the Panthers Classic the Hornets fell to Southwest Christian 3-1 before dropping their final contest 3-2 against Williams Baptist.
Game v. Talladega College: 25-17, 25-18, 25-16, 25-217
Despite falling 3-1, the statistical line tells a different tale. In a side-by-side comparison, the Hornets were not far from Talladega. In points, it was 43.0 for HSSU and 63.0 for TC. In kills, TC accumulated 42 to the Hornets 30. Harris-Stowe landed four service aces while Talladega had 13. In blocks the Hornets outplaced the Tornadoes 9-8. In assists, HSSU tallied 27 while Talladega totaled 40. The digs were close, TC edged past HSSU 43-39.
Jayden Sortor paced the Hornets with nine kills and eight blocks. Ariyonna Johnson followed with seven kills and one service ace. Ariel Stroud concluded the match with six kills, four blocks and one ace. A'Nia Ware led Harris-Stowe with 24 assists with Nickeal Clark added two and Nyah Parker tallied one. Clark totaled 13 digs.
Game against Williams Baptist: 25-14, 25-16, 25-20
This content served as a chance for the Hornets to flex their muscles. Putting the Talladega contest behind them, Harris-Stowe swept the Panthers 3-0.
Looking into the side-by-side comparison, the Hornets were dominant in their game. Pointwise, Harris-Stowe outpaced Clark Atlanta 52.0-30.0 and 41-25 in kills. Aces, the Hornets landed 5-3. In blocks, HSSU recorded six to two. In assists and digs, HSSU toppled WBU 34-22 and 47-39, respectively.
A'nyla Watson led the team with 11 kills, while Queen Patterson added nine and Jayden Sortor tallied eight. Ariyonna Johnson paced the Hornets with three aces. A'Nia Ware and Nickeal Clark each recorded one. Patterson led the team with four blocks. Ware and Sortor added three and two respectively. Ware tallied 31 assists while Clark recorded 16 digs. Makayla Hernandez added 11 assists and Ware aided the Hornets offense with six.
