ST. LOUIS – The Harris-Stowe volleyball team dropped a tough 3-1 road decision to the Stars of Stephens College.
Breakdown per set: 26-24, 25-17, 25-21, 25-17
With both teams going the extra mile to score, it was an evenly matched contest. In points, Stephens edged past Harris-Stowe 56.0-52.0. In kills, the Stars tallied 43 while the Hornets accumulated 42. Stephens recorded eight aces to Harris-Stowe's five. Blocks were tied at five for both teams. The assists category went to the Hornets with 40 while the Stars totaled 37. Both teams exploded with digs, SC finished with 82 and HSSU concluded with 72.
Ariel Stroud and Jayden Sortor paced the Hornets in kills with 11 each and A'nyla Watson added eight. Ariyonna Johnson (2), Nyah Parker (1) and A'Nia Ware (1) each recorded aces for the Hornets. Blocks were incredible, with Queen Patterson recording four, Watson with three and Ware with two for HSSU.
Ware was on fire as she set her teammates up to score, tallying 33 assists. Nickeal Clark recorded 24 digs while Ware and Mallorie Wooten added nine each.
