ST. LOUIS – The Hornets softball team wavered in their conference double against the Owls of William Woods University. In game one, HSSU dropped the contest 8-0 and 15-4 in game two.
Game One
William Woods started scoring in the first with two runs before scoring three in the second. The third and fourth was scoreless, before the Owls pushed one in in the fifth and two in the seventh.
Harris-Stowe concluded the contest with two hits and five errors.
Ramaya Atuatasi recorded the loss for the Hornets in the pitcher's circle.
Game Two
William Woods scored once in the top of the first, but the Hornets returned the favor with two runs of their own. Cindy Sanchez singled to score Maya Rogers and advance Zaria Palmer to third. A fielder's choice when faced with a racing Erianna Meriwether propelled Palmer home.
The Owls knotted the score at two with a single run in the top of the second before extending the lead by scoring five in the third inning and seven in the fourth. In the top of the inning, the Owls tacked on their final run.
The Hornets scored two more ones in the bottom of the fifth. Atuatasi singled and advance to second on the throw, earned two RBIs on the play after Laurann Brown and Palmer scored.
Harris-Stowe finished with four run on five hits and two errors.
Atuatasi took the loss for the Hornets.
