Hornets Softball Falters on Road at Greenville

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 GREENVILLE, Ill. - Harris-Stowe State University softball team fell in a non-conference doubleheader against the Greenville Panthers in Greenville on Tuesday afternoon. Greenville took game one 16-2 and took game two 8-0. The Lady Hornets fall to 0-21 on the season while Greenville improves to 12-2 on the season.

After a scoreless top of the first the Panthers would strike early with 10 runs in the bottom of the first. The Panthers would carry a 10-0 lead into the top of the third before the Lady Hornets would get on the board. After a leadoff walk to sophomore outfielder Jaunesha Washington (St. Louis, Mo./Carnahan) senior utility player Laurann Brown (New Providence, Bahamas) would reach third base on a throwing error by the third baseman as Washington would score from first. Freshman infielder Desirae Atencio (Albuquerque, NM/Ecademy Virtual) would single to center and drive in Brown.

The Panthers would add on six more runs in the bottom of the fourth.

Senior infielder Remani Atuatasi (San Diego, Calif./Hover) would record the other hit in the game.

In game two, after being scoreless for two and a half innings the Panthers bats would come alive for an eight run inning as that's all they would need in game two. Washington delivered the only hit for the Lady Hornets in game two.

The Lady Hornets are back in action on Friday, March 29th at Hornets Field as they continue American Midwest Conference play against Williams Baptist College with game one scheduled for 2 pm.
