ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University softball fell 11-3 in game one and 9-5 in game two against Blackburn College on Saturday afternoon at Stars Park. With the losses, the Lady Hornets fall to 2-26 while the Beavers improve to 14-18.

Game 1:
The Beavers scored two runs in the first and one in the second.Â

In the bottom of the second, junior outfielder Karmen Daniels (St. Louis, Mo./Fontbonne University) walked to start the inning. Junior outfielder Zyon Williams (St. Louis, Mo./Lincoln University) walked with two outs. Freshman outfielder Mora Orloff (CDMX, Mexico) singled to center to score Daniels. Junior second baseman Rakiara Bogan (Cape Girardeau, Mo./Mineral Area College) reached on an infield single to score Williams to cut the deficit to 3-2.

The Beavers scored four runs in the fifth to extend their lead to 7-2. In the bottom of the fifth, sophomore catcher Brianna Huff (Columbus, Ohio/Private Tree of Life Christian College Preparatory High School) singled to left. Junior utility player A'Kiayah Scales (St. Louis, Mo./Mineral Area College) singled to center. Daniels would just miss a home run while scoring Huff on a double to cut the deficit to 7-3. The Beavers scored four runs in the sixth to push their lead to 11-3.

Bogan led the way with two hits while Huff, Scales, Daniels and Orloff all had one. Bogan, Orloff, and Daniels all had one run batted in.

Game 2:
The Beavers scored two runs in the first and fourth innings and four in the fifth.

Sophomore infielder Jaida Phillips (Saint Ann, Mo./Pattonville High School) singled to left. Williams would walk. Orloff singled to right to score freshman utility player Zainabou Diallo (Memphis, Tenn./Hillcrest), who ran for Phillips. Bogan reached on a bunt single to score Williams. Scales reached on a double to score Orloff and Bogan to cut the deficit to 8-4.

The Beavers would score one run in the sixth. In the bottom of the sixth, freshman infielder Crystal McFerren (St. Louis, Mo./Fort Zumwalt North High School) doubled to right center. Phillips reached on an error. Orloff singled to score McFerren to cut the deficit to 9-5.

Scales led the way with three hits, Bogan and Orloff had two hits each, Daniels, McFerren and Phillips had one hit each. Orloff and Scales had two runs batted in and Bogan had one.
