ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The American Midwest Conference announced the members of the First and Second team All-Conference, the Champions of Character team and the Academic All-Conference team on Wednesday morning.The Hornets had six all-conference selections and head coach
Nenad Todorovic was named Coach of the Year.
Coach Todorovic has led the Hornets to a 7-6-3 record on the season while also recording a 4-1-1 record in AMC play that saw the Hornets place third. The one draw for the Hornets was at Columbia which was just the second draw ever for the Hornets against Columbia. The Hornets also beat former AMC member Missouri Baptist University for the first time since 2008 and won at Missouri Baptist. Â
Senior goalkeeper
Matheus Pereira da Silva (Santo Andre, SP,Brazil/Columbia College) was named Second Team All-Conference. Pereira da Silva leads the conference in save percentage (.824) and goals-against average (0.82). Pereira da Silva has not allowed a goal in his last 225:00 minutes in goal.
Sophomore forward
Samuel Guerrero (Santiago, Chile/South Kent School) was also named Second Team All-Conference. Guerrero recorded three goals and two assists on the season for eight points which is tied for third on the team.
Sophomore defender
Nicholas Wingren (Palma, Mallorca, Spain/IES s'Arenal) joins Pereira da Silva and Guerrero on the Second Team. Wingren scored one goal on the season. Wingren helped anchor a defense that allowed just 16 goals all season. Wingren was also the Hornets selection to the Champions of Character team which includes one player from each school, selected by their coach and teammates as the individual who best exemplifies the Five Core Values of the NAIA Champions of Character® Initiative – Respect, Responsibility, Sportsmanship, Integrity and Servant Leadership.Â
Freshman defender
Tanaka Kudzanai Makechemu (Harare, Zimbabwe/Putnam Science Academy) played along the back line with Wingren that gave up just one goal against per game.
Senior forward
Mario De La Fuente (Madrid, Spain/Mid America Christian University) was also selected to the First Team. De La Fuente is second in goals (7) which leads the team. De La Fuente also leads the team with 14 points.
Senior midfielder
Leonardo Mori (Castel d'Azzano/Liceo Galileo Galilei) joins Makechemu and De La Fuente on the First Team. Mori recorded one goal and five assists on the year. Mori is on the First Team for the third consecutive year.Â

The Hornets open the AMC Tournament against #6 seed Mission at 1 pm today at Lou Fusz Athletic Complex Field #10.
