ST. LOUIS – Harris-Stowe State University volleyball has added another victory to their season, defeating the Pioneers of Crowley's Ridge College 3-0. The scores for each set are as follows:
Set 1: Harris-Stowe 25, Crowley's Ridge 15
Set 2: Harris-Stowe 25, Crowley's Ridge 13
Set 3: Harris-Stowe 25, Crowley's Ridge 19
The Hornets dominated in the opening two sets by setting the pace early. The first lead for the Pioneers didn't come until the third set.
In the statistical categories, Harris-Stowe dominated. In points, HSSU tallied 66 to CRC 24. In kills, Harris-Stowe landed 48 while holding the Crowley's Ridge to 19. The Hornets were phenomenal in aces with 11 while the Pioneers landed one. In blocks, the Hornets recorded seven to four. Assists were another area that Harris-Stowe dominated; tallying 44 to 19. Digs, the Hornets finished with 47 and the Pioneers had 33.
Jayden Sortor paced the team with double-digit kills (11), while Ariel Stroud and Darlene Fenderson contributed eight each. Ariyonna Johnson recorded three aces, A'Nia Ware and A'nyla Watson chipped in two each. Queen Patterson led the team with four blocks, Ware had three and Sortor concluded the game with two.
Ware paced the team with 43 assists while Clark dug down deep for 26 digs.
