Box Score 2 ST. LOUIS, Mo.- Harris-Stowe State University's softball team fell in both games of the doubleheader on Wednesday, March 13 to Westminster College Blue Jays by a final score of 17-3 in game one and 7-0 in game two. With the two setbacks the Hornets fall to 0-6 on the season while Westminster improves to 2-10 on the season.
In game one, the Blue Jays got on the board in the top of the second with a solo homerun off the bat of Haylee Chandler. The Blue Jays would continue to add on with two runs in the third and fourth before scoring five in the top of the fifth. The Hornets would put three runs on the board in the bottom of the fifth to stay alive. Freshman
Juanesha Washington (St. Louis, Mo./Carnahan) would pick up one of the Hornets four hits, pick up a RBI, and score a run in the three run fifth. Freshman
Isabella Romualdo (Aiea, Hawaii/Moanalua) would pick up a hit and a run scored in the inning. Freshman
Ramaya Atuatasi (San Diego, Calif./Hover) would walk in the fifth and would score on the hit from Washington. The Blue Jays would add seven runs in the top half of the seventh inning.
The Blue Jays would jump on top in the first inning of game two as Emily Esquivel would score on a single to right off the bat of Eva Gannon. Westminster would add two more in the fourth with RBI hits from Maddie Marreo and Esquivel. Ellie Bedsworth hit a two run homerun in the fifth as Gannon would score. The Blue Jays added two more in the seventh. The Hornets could only muster two hits with on coming from
Ramaya Atuatasi and freshman
Laurann Brown (New Providence, Bahamas).
The Hornets return to action on Saturday, March 16th against Rust College at 2PM and 4PM.
