ELSAH, Ill. - Harris-Stowe State University women's track and field team competed at the American Midwest Conference Indoor Championships. The women's team finished seventh out of ten teams with 31 points.
Junior sprinter
Alicia Robinson (Grand Rapids, Mich.) finished first in the long jump with a leap of 5.25 meters (17-2.75). Robinson finished second in the 200-meter dash in 26.39 seconds. In the preliminary round of the 60-meter dash Robinson was second in 7.90 seconds to qualify for the finals. In the finals, Robinson ran a personal best 7.85 seconds to finish second. Robinson finished seventh in the triple jump with a leap of 9.45 meters (31-0) for a personal best. Robinson was AMC Newcomer of the Year.
Senior sprinter
Shamari Long (Chicago, Ill.) finished eighth in the 60-meter preliminary in 8.28 seconds to qualify for finals. Long would finish sixth in the finals in a personal best time of 8.21 seconds.
Senior thrower
Damajee Brown finished 12th in the weight throw with a throw of 11.81 meters (38-9).
Junior thrower Remaya Atuatasi (San Diego, Calif./Hoover) finished 16th in the weight throw with a throw of 10.08 meters (33-1).
Freshman thrower
Saniya Thomas finished 17th in the weight throw with a throw of 10.04 meters (32-11.25) and 17th in the shot put with a throw of 8.06 meters (26.5.50).
The Lady Hornets return to action on Wednesday, February 19th at 4:30 pm at the Principia Jumps & Throws Mini Meet hosted by Principia College in Elsah, Ill.
