LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Harris-Stowe State University women's track and field tem competed at the HBCU Nationals this past Friday and Saturday hosted by Kentucky State at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center. The Lady Hornets finished fifth with 20 points.
Freshman sprinter
Tijaria Anthony recorded a third place finish in the long jump with a leap of 4.78 meters (15-8.25). Anthony also recorded a time of 8.22 in the 60-meters.
Freshman sprinter
Nyla Richardson-Myles finished third in the high jump with a height of 1.35 meters (4-5). Richardson-Myles ran a personal best in the 60 with a time of 8.82.
Freshman thrower
Shyla Reid finished fourth in the weight throw with a personal best throw of 13.49 meters (44-3.25). Reid finished eighth in the shot put with a personal best throw of 11.00 meters (36-1.25).
Freshman sprinter
Amyla Meriweather recorded a personal best time of 1:09.07 in the 400. Meriweather also recorded a time of 2:57.97 in the 800-meters.
Senior thrower
Ramaya Atuatasi (San Diego, Calif./Hoover High School) recorded a seventh place finish in the weight throw with a throw of 12.58 meters (41-3.25).
Freshman thrower
Syain Washington recorded a throw of 8.24 meters (27-0.5) in the weight throw.
The Lady Hornets will begin their outdoor season on March 20-21 at the Miner Invitational hosted by Missouri S&T in Rolla, Mo.
