Lady Hornets Track Competes at CMU Open

FAYETTE, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University women's track and field team competed at the CMU Open hosted by Central Methodist on Saturday.

Senior thrower Damajee Brown finished third in the hammer throw with a throw of 43.72 meters (143-5) which was a personal best by almost three meters. Brown recorded a throw of 6.84 meters (22-5.25).

Junior sprinter Alicia Robinson (Grand Rapids, Mich.) finished second in the 400 meter dash in 1:00.58.

Senior sprinter and thrower Shamari Long (Chicago, Ill.) recorded a throw of 25.17 meters (82-7) in the javelin and a personal record in the shot put with a throw of 9.14 meters (30-0).

Junior thrower Ramaya Atuatasi (San Diego, Calif./Hoover) recorded a personal best in the hammer throw with a throw of 35.34 meters (115-11) and a personal best in the shot put with a throw of 6.96 meters (22-10).

Freshman thrower and sprinter Saniya Thomas recorded a personal best in the javelin with a throw of 20.53 meters (67-4), a personal best in the hammer throw with a throw of 35.01 (114-10) and the 200 meter with a time of 29.88. Thomas also recorded a throw of 7.62 meters (25-0) in the shot put.

The Lady Hornets return to action next Friday and Saturday, March 21st-22nd at the Miner Invite hosted by Missouri S&T in Rolla, Mo.
