Box Score 2 ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University softball fell 15-0 in game one and 11-2 in game two of the doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon against LeMoyne-Owen at Stars Park. With the losses, the Lady Hornets fall to 1-35 on the season while the Magicians improve to 7-21 on the season. Wednesday's doubleheader was Strikeout Cancer at the park.
In game one, the Magicians scored four runs in the first, three in the second, one in the third, six in the fourth and one in the fifth. Freshman catcher
Brianna Huff (Columbus, Ohio/Private Tree of Life Christian College Preparatory), senior outfielder
Morgan Nettles (St. Louis, Mo./Clayton) and senior outfielder
Lyric McGilberry (Orlando, Fla./St. Charles Community College) all recorded a hit.
In game two, the Magicians scored three in the top of the first. In the bottom of the first Huff singled and made it to third on a throwing error. A two-out single by freshman infielder
Michaela Thomas (Fort Pierce, Fla./Fort Pierce Westwood Academy) scored Huff from third to make it 3-1 Magicians after one inning of play. The Magicians scored five in the fourth and three in the fifth.
In the bottom of the fourth, freshman infielder
Jadia Phillips (Maryland Heights, Mo./Pattonville) started the inning with a walk. A single from senior infielder
Christal Smith (Jacksonville, Fla./Terry Parker) moved freshman outfielder Jehirah Williams (St. Louis, Mo./Althoff Catholic) to second as she was running in place of sophomore infielder
Gracie Schmitte (San Diego, Calif./Mar Vista). McGilberry reached on an error to load the bases. A groundout by senior outfielder
Tallulah Nemet-Sargent (Wellington, New Zealand/Queen Margaret College/Mississippi Valley State University) scored Williams.
Smith led the way with two hits while Huff, Nettles, Thomas and junior outfielder
Juanesha Washington (St. Louis, Mo./Carnahan) all recorded one hit.
The Lady Hornets return to action on Thursday, April 17th against Missouri Baptist at 2:30 pm and 4:30 pm at Stars Park.
