ELSAH, Ill. - Harris-Stowe State University women's track and field team competed at the American Midwest Conference Indoor Championship on Saturday at Principia College. The Lady Hornets finished fifth with 22 points.
Freshman sprinter Tijaria Anthony finished fifth in the semi-finals of the 60-meters in a time of 8.22. In the finals, Anthony finished fifth in a time of 8.11. Anthony recorded a personal best 27.44 in the 200-meters to finish fourth. Anthony recorded a personal best jump of 4.93 meters (16-2.25) to finish fourth in the long jump.
Senior thrower Ramaya Atuatasi (San Diego, Calif./Hoover) recorded a throw of 12.21 meters (40-0.75) in the weight throw.
Freshman sprinter Nyla Richardson-Myles recorded a personal best in the high jump with a height of 1.35 meters (4-5), a personal best in the triple jump with a leap of 9.14 meters (30-0) and a personal best in the 200-meters in a time of 29.38.
Freshman sprinter Sherasade Meghezi (Paris, France) recorded a personal best in the long jump with a jump of 4.65 meters (15-3.25). Meghezi completed the 60 in a time of 8.90 and the 200 in a time of 31.03.
Freshman thrower Shlya Reid recorded a personal best throw of 10.70 meters (35-1.25) to finish fifth in the shot put. Reid also recorded a throw of 11.75 meters (38-6.75) in the weight throw.
Freshman sprinter Amyla Meriweather recorded personal bests in the 400-meters (1:12.64) and in the 1000-meter (3:51.90).
Sophomore sprinter Emma Auer (Kindberg, Austria/HIB Liebenau) recorded a personal best in the 400-meters in a time of 1:08.58) and a personal best in the long jump with a jump of 4.31 meters (14-1.75).
Freshman thrower Syain Washington recorded a personal best in the weight throw with a throw of 9.44 meters (30-11.75).
The top three finishers in each event earn all-conference honors.
The Lady Hornets return to the track on Saturday, February 28th at a last chance meet.
